No fuss, no muss, no burning or spillage, and best of all, no supervision needed! The Roemertopf takes care of it all. Before you cook with your topf, a few hints:
First of all, when you receive your topf, wash it thoroughly with hot water. Before each use, soak the topf in warm water for ten minutes. This is an important step as it fills the earthenware pores. Then simply place your fresh ingredients into the topf, and place in a cold oven. Now you are ready to set the temperature. In the case of gas ovens, set the temperature at the lowest temperature initially, geradually raising to desired roasting temperature. When cooking is finished, remove topf and place on a heat resistant surface. You can wash the topf in the dishwasher, we hand wash ours with hot water and dish detergent. To store, place lid upside down in topf.
Please do not put the topf on the range when on, or on gas rings. Feel free to add warm liquid to the topf as needed during cooking. A pamphlet will come with your Roemertopf with a few suggested recipes, but the sky's the limit! Try lots of different recipes, you will love the way they come out when you use the Roemertopf.
