Have you ever heard of the "Florian Principle"?  This principle is named after an ironic prayer to Saint Florian: "O Heiliger Sankt Florian, verschon' mein Haus, zünd' and're an", translated to "O Holy St. Florian, please spare my house, set fire to another one". 

Said in Germany much like in America we have NIMBY "not in my backyard," when the person wants to do to someone else what they don't want done to themselves. 

The name Florian is considered synonymous with the fireman in the Germany.  Sometimes a call for a fireman will be spoken as calls for Florian.
