: Schweizer Painted Pewter
| Willhelm Schweizer Zinnfiguren
(Pewter) |

We are pleased to present to you our
lovely, handpainted pewter ornaments by Willhelm Schweizer of Germany.
Schweizer Pewter is
made in Diessen am Ammersee, a little town southwest of Munich. A family
owned firm for over 200 years, the pewter we present to you is made precisely
as it was from the beginning and the workmanship is superb. Each and every
pewter piece is cast in two pieces of slate and hand carved in negative
relief. The two pieces are then pressed together and then filled with hot,
liquid pewter. The slates are then opened and the figure is figured. They
are then hand cleaned and lovingly hand painted with enamel paints.

| Much earlier, these pewter figurines were made as toys for young children and today they are collector’s items. No one can actually state with any measure of certainty how old this art is. However, it has been documented that in the 13th century Pilgrimage in Germany these pewter figures already existed and, later, in the l700’s, the crown princes played with their beloved small lead soldiers and in the 1800’s under Frederich the Great pewter soldiers were made. Following the two World Wars, this production came to a slow halt. Raw materials to make these pieces of art were just not available. Following the second World War, a rebirth occurred, and the handmade quality and the traditions it invoked were once again cherished. Schweizer Pewter has not looked back since. This craft is one which has been handed down from one generation to the next and today’s collection is made precisely as it was made 200 years ago. |
| Of distinctive heirloom quality, these pewter pieces are hand cast and hand painted. The level of detail will astound you. The clarity of color and the expressions on the faces – regardless of size – will enchant you. The collection consists of exquisitely detailed ornaments, miniatures, vignettes, standing pieces, window and wall hangings and are true pieces of art. Most of the collection is two sided, meaning that both sides of the ornament or standing figure are painted on both sides. The window and wall hangings are hand painted on one side and are traditionally hung in windows facing outward, or on walls as beautiful decorations. The Fairy Tale Castle and the Christmas Market are two especially beautiful, intensely detailed examples of wall or window hangings. |

| Note: Since all Schweizer pewter is hand painted, colors and design of any given piece may be slightly different from the picture shown in our collection. The mold, so the particular figure, will remain the same. However, each artist is given the luxury of creating each individual ornament, figure or wall hanging so the colors and designs will vary from piece to piece. This truly is the beauty of Schweizer pewter. You are ordering the piece, not the color – you are ordering an heirloom piece of art, not a mass produced reproduction. |
